Scholar Support Programme

Scholar Support Programme (SSP) is one of the New Initiatives of Higher Education which has been implemented in aided colleges during the academic year 2014-15. The Scholar Support Programme envisions to provide continuous support to needy students of the Undergraduate courses of Government and Aided Arts and Science Colleges of Kerala. The annual plan envisages extending support to scholars in the undergraduate programme with timely assistance in terms of tutorials, additional lectures, interactive sessions, question banks and study materials. Students who have obtained less than 60% marks in the qualifying examination or in any subject for each semester can join for the SSP. Classes are disseminated by the faculty of the college .The programme has a college level coordinator and is monitored by the college council. 50 students of the college are selected each year for 5 identified subjects with 5 internal faculty members as resource persons.

Outcomes

SSP has been conceptualized as a data-driven, outcome-based, feedback-oriented program. The colleges participating in the programme are expected to achieve the following outcomes at the end of each year.

  • Improvement in academic performance of low scoring students (Increase the marks in semester exams)
  • Increase in pass percentage of the identified courses (papers)
  • Decrease in the number of students who stop studies and leave college without completing the UG course (Decrease the student drop-out rate)
